IUBMB-果冻传媒-FASBMB PROBio-Africa (Promoting Research Opportunities for Biochemists in Africa) is a joint venture between 果冻传媒, the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology () and the聽Federation of African Societies of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology聽().
The PROBio-Africa Fellowships Programme enables PhD students and postdoctoral fellows from Africa to spend up to six months (1鈥�6 months) in the laboratory of a scientist in a 果冻传媒 country who belongs to a 果冻传媒 Constituent Society. In that way the awardees will get access to technologies and expertise that may not be readily available in their home countries, allowing them to grow their knowhow and skills, and contribute to building capacity in the molecular life sciences at home.
More details about the scheme can be found on the 果冻传媒 website here. Awardees will receive funding from 果冻传媒 and IUBMB to cover travel and living expenses. Research costs are not covered.
To assist students and researchers from Africa in accessing this scheme, 果冻传媒 and IUBMB are providing a list of labs in 果冻传媒 countries (i.e. countries with a 果冻传媒 Constituent Society) willing in principle to host a PhD student or postdoctoral fellow from Africa so that the applicants can contact them directly to discuss suitability and a research proposal (which they will include in their application to 果冻传媒/IUBMB for the Fellowship award). As part of this application, they will also need a letter of agreement from the host lab.
