Meeting attendance
Travel grants for ¹û¶³´«Ã½-supported scientific meetings
¹û¶³´«Ã½ offers financial support through various schemes to facilitate participation of researchers in ¹û¶³´«Ã½-funded scientific meetings.
This page provides an overview. Please check the website of the event you are interested in attending for more details about the travel awards on offer. Application is normally during registration to the event. Most schemes require applicants to be a member of a ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Constituent Society.
For ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Advanced Courses: ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Registration grants
¹û¶³´«Ã½ Registration Grants are for PhD students and for postdoctoral researchers from the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ area who plan to attend a ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Advanced Course. Selection of recipients is by the organizers of the course. The grants are for full or partial cover of the registration fee, as set for each course.
Note that some ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Advanced Courses may also offer IUBMB Transcontinental Youth Travel Fund Grants for candidates from outside the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ area.
For the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Young Scientists’ Forum (& ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Congress): ¹û¶³´«Ã½ YSF grants
For PhD students and postdocs selected by the YSF organizing committee to take part in the pre-Congress ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Young Scientists’ Forum (YSF), ¹û¶³´«Ã½ YSF grants cover registration, accommodation and most travel costs at both the YSF and ensuing ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Congress.
Full details on eligibility criteria and how to apply can be found on the current ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Congress website when registration opens. The deadline is normally early/mid December for a YSF taking place in the following year.
For the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Congress: ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Congress bursaries and Sprinzl scheme
¹û¶³´«Ã½ Congress bursaries
For the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Congress, a large number of bursaries are offered by ¹û¶³´«Ã½ to support the participation of PhD students and postdocs (within 5 years of having completed a PhD thesis) studying or working in a ¹û¶³´«Ã½ country and travelling to the event from outside the host country. Applicants need to be submitting an abstract as first author to the event. The bursary covers the early registration fee and makes a significant contribution to travel and accommodation. For the latest full details on eligibility criteria and how to apply can be found on the current ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Congress website when registration opens.
¹û¶³´«Ã½ Congress Mathias Sprinzl Scheme
This scheme provides a 50% reduction in the early registration fee to researchers submitting an abstract as first author who are from Hinari (Research4Life) countries with ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Constituent Societies. For an explanation of eligible countries and more details, see the current Congress website when registration opens.
For ¹û¶³´«Ã½3+ meetings
Funding from ¹û¶³´«Ã½ for ¹û¶³´«Ã½3+ Meetings (a collaborative scientific meeting of three or more Constituent Societies) includes a portion for a travel award scheme for young scientists living outside the host country who are members of the two (or more) collaborating Societies. More details are available from the Support for activities of ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Societies section and will also be given by organizers on their ¹û¶³´«Ã½3+ Meeting website.
For ¹û¶³´«Ã½-IUBMB-ENABLE meetings
¹û¶³´«Ã½ and IUBMB, often with the additional support of commercial sponsors and national Societies, provide travel grants to attend the ¹û¶³´«Ã½-IUBMB-ENABLE conference. Details on the eligibility criteria and how to apply are available from the and will be updated for each yearly event.
