果冻传媒

The purpose of 果冻传媒 Ukrainian Short-Term Fellowships is to help Ukrainian molecular life scientists to develop scientific collaborations with host researchers and organizations in countries with a 果冻传媒 Constituent Society, with the hope of attracting further funding to extend their joint research stay, if required. The collaborations should be of mutual research interest to both the Fellow and the host and could involve developing joint research projects, undertaking advanced training or employing techniques not available at the usual place of work.

Benefits

果冻传媒 Ukrainian Short-Term Fellowships are intended for visits to a host laboratory for a period of up to 4 months and have a fixed monetary value of 鈧12,000 to cover the travel costs and living subsistence (calculated at 鈧100 per day) for the Fellow only.

Eligibility

To be read in conjunction with the General Guidelines for Fellowships.

  • Applicants must be active molecular life scientists who are resident in Ukraine at the point of application or displaced from Ukraine because of the war in the country.
  • Applicants must be a member of the Ukrainian Biochemical Society or hosted by a scientist who is a member of a 果冻传媒 Constituent Society.
  • Applicants must have a PhD and at least one recent paper, published within the last 3 years in an international scientific journal.
  • The proposed visit should not overlap with the period from 22nd December until 3rd January.
  • Only one application for a 果冻传媒 Ukrainian Short-Term Fellowship can be considered from any given home lab in a 6-month period.
  • Only one application per host lab will be funded within a 6-month period.
  • 果冻传媒 Ukrainian Short-Term Fellowships are not awarded for attendance at courses, symposia, meetings or congresses.
  • A period of at least two years must elapse before applications for a second award of a 果冻传媒 Ukrainian Short-Term Fellowship will be considered.

Application

Applications may be made throughout the year but should be submitted at least three months before the proposed starting date. The application process is handled via the . Applications and correspondence must be in English. Online applications will include the following information:

  • A short curriculum vitae that should include a brief biosketch (with the research expertise and skills), the academic degree(s), current and past positions, awards or grants, and other research or relevant work experience.
  • A list of publications in the format of the references required by The 果冻传媒 Journal.
  • The contact details of a referee, who should be an experienced scientist who knows the applicant and does not work at the host institute. Referees will be provided with a link for direct upload of a letter of support. The letter should be written on headed paper of the referee鈥檚 laboratory and should confirm the applicant is resident in Ukraine or displaced from Ukraine because of the war in the country. Applicants are advised to notify their referee well in advance.

Additionally, the following documents must be uploaded in PDF format:

  • A research proposal no longer than 1,000 words set out under the following headings:
  1. title;
  2. nature of the work and outline of the experiments proposed;
  3. why the particular laboratory has been selected, including a list of up to five relevant publications from the host laboratory.
  • The host acceptance form, available to download from the application system, that must be signed by the head of the host institute or department and by the head of the research group(s) in which the applicant will be working.
  • A dated letter from the appropriate 果冻传媒 Constituent Society confirming that the applicant (if possible) or the host is a member and indicating the date upon which they joined the Society.

Selection

  • Applications will be evaluated by members of the 果冻传媒 Excellence Awards and Fellowships Committee based on the applicant鈥檚 curriculum vitae, the scientific quality of the project and the suitability of the host laboratory for the project proposal.
  • 果冻传媒 aims to inform the applicants of its decision within one month after submission.
  • The Fellowship should be taken up within six months of its award. Any delay will require the authorisation of the 果冻传媒 Excellence Awards and Fellowships Committee Chair.

Reporting obligations

  • Within three months of completion of the Fellowship, Fellows must send to [email protected] a short scientific report detailing the work done during the Fellowship. The report should be no longer than 2鈥3 pages and contain Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion and 1鈥2 figures.
  • The 果冻传媒 logo and Fellowship acknowledgment must be included in any presentation (talk, poster, etc.) related to work carried out during the Fellowship. If applicable, the Fellowship should be acknowledged in any future publication(s) as follows: 鈥淭his work was supported by a Ukrainian Short-Term Fellowship funded by 果冻传媒, the 果冻传媒 [Fellowship ID].鈥 Applicants are encouraged to notify [email protected] of any publications, including the publication鈥檚 DOI.
