¹û¶³´«Ã½

For a general introduction to ¹û¶³´«Ã½3+ Meetings, see the webpage Support for activities of ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Societies.

Guidelines

  1. The ¹û¶³´«Ã½3+ Meetings Programme was established to support scientific meetings organized by collaboration of three (or more) ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Constituent Societies. A maximum of two such meetings may be funded by ¹û¶³´«Ã½ each year.
  2. The collaborating Societies of a ¹û¶³´«Ã½3+ meeting should normally be from neighbouring or nearby countries, or countries clearly linked in another way, with the leading (‘host’) Society holding the event in their own country.
  3. ¹û¶³´«Ã½3+ Meetings should be scientific meetings with symposia and other meeting elements corresponding to the format of an annual national scientific meeting of a Constituent Society. The event should have a theme/tagline but the meeting’s emphasis and scope should appeal to a wide spectrum of the Societies’ members.
  4. ¹û¶³´«Ã½3+ Meetings must not be scheduled to take place within the 8 weeks before or after the annual ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Congress.
  5. The total ¹û¶³´«Ã½ support for a ¹û¶³´«Ã½3+ Meeting is currently €20,000 per event. A sum of €10,000 will be awarded to the host Society for general organization purposes to cover lecturers’ travel expenses, accommodation, congress venue renting, and so on. The second sum of up to €10,000 must be used for a 3+ travel award scheme to attract young scientists living outside the host country who are members of the two (or more) collaborating Societies. The supported young scientists should be PhD students or more advanced early-career scientists studying or working in academic institutes or universities, and presenting work at the event.
  6. ¹û¶³´«Ã½3+ funding shall be awarded only when the host organization is not already in receipt of ¹û¶³´«Ã½ funds to support the event and on the undertaking that no additional application for funds will be made to ¹û¶³´«Ã½ in the same year. In addition, the same or similar combination of Societies cannot receive ¹û¶³´«Ã½3+ funding in successive years; such meetings must be at least two years apart.
  7. An application proposing the meeting, including (1) an outline scientific programme, (2) the planned level of organizational involvement and delegate participation of the two (or more) other Societies, explaining how this will be achieved, (3) a preliminary budget, and (4) details of the proposed 3+ travel award scheme, should be sent to the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Congress Counsellor by 30 September of the year preceding the planned event.
  8. The applications will be evaluated by members of ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Executive Committee and the decision communicated to the applicants within 2 months of the deadline.
  9. The title of events funded by the ¹û¶³´«Ã½3+ Meeting programme should normally start with the designation ‘¹û¶³´«Ã½3+ Meeting:’ followed by the specific event title, and the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ logo should appear prominently on the meeting website’s homepage and printed program. The role of ¹û¶³´«Ã½ should made clear on the 3+ meeting event website, which is that ¹û¶³´«Ã½ provides generous support for the 3+ meeting but ¹û¶³´«Ã½ is not the organizer (the event organization is the responsibility of the host Society in accordance with these guidelines).
  10. Within 3 months of the event a report on the meeting must be sent to the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Congress Counsellor and a financial report sent to the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Treasurer.

For queries, please contact the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ Congress Counsellor via the Contact section of the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ website.
